Shinde Hospitalised In Thane After Viral Fever, Exhaustion

Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was admitted to a private hospital in Thane late on Friday night after complaining of viral fever and fatigue. Doctors stated that his condition was stable and recommended complete rest as a precaution.

Mr. Shinde was admitted to Jupiter Hospital in Thane around 2 am on Saturday for treatment. According to hospital sources, he was experiencing fever and fatigue for the last few days but continued his official duties. His condition reportedly worsened during a scheduled event in Thane, following which his subsequent shows were cancelled.

Maharashtra Health Minister Prakash Abitkar said Shinde was unwell due to constant travel and workload. “Mr. Shinde was feeling uncomfortable running around all the time and doctors advised him to rest. He is not someone who listens easily but he definitely needs rest right now,” Mr. Abitkar said.

Doctors treating him confirmed that his condition was stable and reiterated that he was advised to take full rest.

According to hospital sources, he was admitted to the hospital following complaints of fever and fatigue over the last few days. Despite this, he continued his studies. However, all his subsequent programs were canceled after his illness worsened during a planned event in Thane.

The planned inauguration of Shubhangi Patil, deputy leader of Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray faction in Dhule, was also postponed due to Mr. Shinde’s health condition. Later, Ms. Patil, MP Dr. He formally joined the Shiv Sena in the presence of Shrikant Shinde.
