Shocking moment officers drag suspected illegal immigrant from car | World | News

This is the moment a suspected illegal immigrant was dragged from his car by US border agents and physically restrained before being taken away. Shocking photos show federal agents approaching a man’s vehicle at a gas station in St. Paul, Minnesota.

In a series of photos, the man can be seen trying to challenge officers during a confrontation at a gas station. But events quickly escalated when agents broke the driver’s side window of the car and dragged the passenger from the vehicle. The man reportedly did not show officers any identification; however, his citizenship status was not confirmed.

The US state of Minnesota has seen rising tensions in recent days after US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) members shot and killed 37-year-old US citizen Renee Good while trying to stop her car on Wednesday.

Thousands of people marched in Minneapolis on Saturday to protest the shooting death of Ms. Good by a federal immigration officer. St Paul, where these photos of the man being pulled from his car were taken, is the state capital of Minnesota and is located just across the Mississippi River from Minneapolis. These two urban areas are known as ‘Twin Cities’ in the USA.

There have been more than 2,000 immigration arrests in Minnesota since the ICE enforcement operation began in early December, according to Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem told Fox News on Sunday that the Trump administration will send additional federal agents to Minnesota to protect immigration officials and maintain enforcement.

As enforcement activity continues, two of the state’s leading Democrats said the investigation into Ms. Good’s shooting death should not be overseen solely by the federal government.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and U.S. Sen. Tina Smith said in separate interviews that state officials should be included in the investigation because the federal government has already made clear what it believes happened.

Ms. Good died after being shot multiple times by a federal agent while behind the wheel of her vehicle.

Ms. Smith told ABC News: “How can we trust the federal government to do an unbiased, objective, unbiased investigation when they’ve already stated at the beginning of the investigation exactly what they saw – what they think happened?”

The Trump administration defended the officer who shot Good in his car, saying he was protecting himself and his fellow agents and “armed” Good’s vehicle.
