Sir Tom Jones posted a ‘sad and disheartening’ warning to fans on Instagram on Friday as he implored people to ‘be careful and stay safe’.
The 85-year-old Welsh singer has revealed that some of his fans fell victim to a scam in which fake profiles impersonated him online.
The management team admitted that those behind the scam were trying to ‘trap and abuse’ vulnerable people.
Pontypridd-born Sir Tom posted a black screen with red text and wrote: ‘It has been brought to our attention that there are many fake online profiles impersonating Sir Tom Jones and/or his team attempting to defraud fans and the public.’
He continued: ‘Sir Tom does not contact individuals personally or directly through his social channels.
‘If a fake profile tries to chat with you privately, report and block them. This won’t be Sir Tom Jones or his team.

‘It is saddening and disheartening to hear that these scammers are trying to trap and exploit vulnerable people, so please be careful and stay safe online.’
Sir Tom’s announcement came after he faced a sea of boos while manning Cardiff Castle as part of live outdoor shows in the summer.
Opening the first of her two nights there, the singer took to the stage to perform her biggest hits including What’s New Pussycat?, Sex Bomb and I’m Growing Old.
But when Tom performed his 1968 hit Delilah, the crowd’s reaction turned cold.
The ballad was adopted by the Welsh Rugby Union for several years before it was banned from sporting events in 2023.
Bosses made this decision due to his controversial lyrics about a lover stabbing a woman.
As Tom mentioned the single was banned, the crowd began booing as a sign of support for the singer, leading to a heated rant about censorship before defiantly singing the track.
Delilah describes the opportunistic murder of a man who waits for his former partner’s lover to leave the house before taking action.

The lyrics say: ‘I was waiting at dawn when that man walked away. I walked across the street to his house and he opened the door. ‘He was standing there laughing… I felt the knife in my hand and he didn’t laugh anymore.’
According to The Mirror, Tom told the audience that the lyrics of the song should not be ‘taken literally’.
He said: ‘Who is the man who said we shouldn’t sing this song anymore? ‘This was turning my day into an international match.’
Clearly unhappy with the ban, Tom continued: ‘I used to wait and then they said we couldn’t sing anymore.
Who is this guy who says we can’t sing ‘Delilah’? They said it was about a man who killed his wife with a knife. Yes it is, but you shouldn’t take it literally.’
Tom also used his time on stage to attack MPs across the political spectrum, saying: ‘You’ve got to be careful with politicians.
‘Do you know when a politician lies? “When her lips move.”
