Sixteen people arrested and 75 rescued from height during Arsenal bus parade | Arsenal

Emergency services said around 75 people were rescued from heights and 16 people were arrested during Arsenal’s victory bus parade on Sunday.

Hundreds of thousands of fans are estimated to line the streets around the Emirates stadium in north London to celebrate Arsenal winning the men’s Premier League for the first time since 2004 and the women’s team lifting the first Fifa Women’s Champions Cup.

Metropolitan police said 16 people had been arrested in the area around the parade as of 9pm on Sunday.

Police said the arrests were made on charges including drunk and disorderly conduct, drug offenses, sexual assault and assaulting emergency workers.

Officers were called to the scene of the stabbing on Hornsey Road just after 8.30pm and attended with paramedics and an air ambulance.

One man was taken to hospital where his condition will be evaluated, police said.

Officers were given additional stop and search powers to respond to incidents around the Arsenal parade in north London.

Police said in X that “Section 60” of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 was approved overnight for police in north London.

A post made just after 10 p.m. stated that “some people are still causing trouble and committing crimes.”

The Met said it responded to 16 arrests, as well as many other assaults and unlicensed music events in the area.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) said it had rescued “around 75 people” from high-altitude incidents during the event and encouraged fans to avoid climbing onto rooftops.

They were also said to have attended a fire at a hotel, which was believed to have been caused by a stray flame.

LFB deputy commissioner Pat Goulbourne said: “Fortunately, the fire caused only minor damage to the exterior of the building.

“Pyrotechnics are also believed to have triggered fire alarms at several other locations in the area.

“As fans return home, we advise them to avoid using pyrotechnics, especially at stations, and keep them away from buildings and other flammable materials.”

Goulbourne added that the celebrations were a “wonderful sight” and said many fans were “celebrating their club’s success safely”.
