Smart metering: KSEB to form dedicated sub-division for monitoring implementation

The Kerale State Electrical Board (KSEB) decided to create a special subsection to monitor the application of smart electricity measurement in the state.
In the opening of the first stage of smart measurement under the renewed distribution sector scheme (RDSS), KSEB, information and technology wing and monitoring teams decided to establish a smart meter and geographic information system (CBS) sub -section.
According to the decision, according to KSSEB, “Technical Standards and Project Timeline will be a tracking team at the level level and a corporate level monitoring team at the level level for multidimensional coordination for effective planning, implementation and monitoring”.
At the beginning of this month, the state energy service, state consumers, high -tension (HT) consumers and nutritious meters, the first stage began to apply. The first meters were pilotage under the Puthenchantha electricity section in Thiruvananthapuram and at the 220 KV transformer center in Kalamassery.
In the first stage, approximately three lakh meters will be established. Only 1.5 lakh single -phase meters will be installed in government offices. Until August 2026, KSSEB announced that it plans to complete the installation of transformer border meters up to March 2026 and HT consumer meters.
After the smart measurement application movement on the Totex mode, the Kerala government approved a Capex (capital expenditure) model to be installed in multiple stages by KSSEB.
