Smoke warning for Gidgegannup locals after shipping container with ‘powder-coated bike racks’ catches fire

Perth’s north -east residents were warned of potentially dangerous smoke after a shipping container rose in flames.

The Ministry of Fire and Emergency Services released a recommendation warning after the reports of a building fire close to the intersection of Lillie Road and Tilden Drive in the afternoon of Thursday afternoon.

Blaze was first reported at 12:00 and was included at 15:30 and was checked.

A DFES spokesman said the shipping container contained “dust -covered bike shelves”, cardboard and wooden pallets.

The firefighters reached the container by cutting their side and entering their doors.

“Fire potentially causes dangerous smoke to be blown in the south,” a DFES spokesman said.

“There is a lot of smoke in the region.

“As a precautionary measure, people in the region should remain closed, except for smoke or smoke, doors and windows should remain closed.

“People should stay away from the region.”

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Drivers are asked to avoid the region, reduce speed and carefully drive.
