Real psychopath reveals the disturbing hidden clues that make him different from normal people

A real-life psychopath shared what dark traits distinguish him from mentally healthy people and why he loses sleep over his behavior.

Loic De Marie was officially diagnosed as a psychopath as a teenager after passing the PCL-R test, the same exam given to prison inmates.

Psychopathy is a personality disorder in which people lack empathy, act selfishly, and may engage in harmful or criminal behavior.

He stated that what makes him different from the average person is that he feels almost no deep emotions, especially guilt or remorse.

According to De Marie, the key distinction that defines a true psychopath is their complete disregard for the consequences of their actions or how badly they harm others, both mentally and physically.

‘No matter what I did, never. I don’t regret anything. I will live once and I will do it for myself. I have no regrets,” De Marie told the People Are Deep podcast.

The Belgian man revealed that disturbing events that proved he was a psychopath date back to his childhood, including watching his own sister nearly drown without panicking or trying to help save her.

Although she stated that she had a difficult childhood and lived in poverty, De Marie believed that her condition was genetic and had nothing to do with the circumstances of her life.

However, he added that being a diagnosed psychopath is actually beneficial because he never feels anxiety, depression or guilt, can remain calm under pressure and can make ruthless decisions without suffering emotional pain.

De Marie described, completely calmly and with little emotion, how he had committed acts of violence, how he had even been arrested by the police, but he did not feel he had done anything wrong.

He recalled that police officers once caught him preparing to attack three boys with a baseball bat, but let him off with a warning.

But he completely disregarded the officer’s warning and broke one of the boy’s noses just two days later.

‘I was detained and taken to the police station. I don’t give much information about what will happen. “And I don’t think about the consequences of my actions,” De Marie said. During the October 18 podcast.

The Belgian admitted that he slept with his best friend’s ex-girlfriend and lied about it for years because his situation made the danger exciting.

‘When you’re a psychopath, you tend to believe that people are not smart. That’s why you use them. You see people as objects. You think they’re stupid. You can take whatever you want from them. That’s why you manipulate people,’ he explained.

De Marie even described an incident in which he took his mother to visit a dying friend only so that he could seduce the woman’s daughter, disregarding the woman’s pain.

‘If the person has to die, that’s not an issue for me.’

The Belgian attracted much attention after speaking publicly about being diagnosed as a psychopath and admitting how he had harmed others over the years.

While De Marie said many people claimed his public confessions would ruin his life, the diagnosed psychopath said the opposite actually happened.

He works as a life coach and counselor, using his psychopathic knowledge to help others, teaching people how to recognize and avoid manipulation.

He called this his ‘salvation’ because by providing his expertise he earns money, respect and prestige, which still fuels his narcissism – another key trait exhibited by psychopaths.

‘I can get what I want without destroying others. “It’s like a contract with me and with the people,” he explained.

De Marie believed that many successful people, including CEOs and the bankers who caused the 2008 financial crisis, may be psychopaths because they are emotionless, cold, and capable of making rational decisions.

These individuals are alleged to use psychopathy to their advantage by focusing, taking risks, and gaining money or power without feeling bad about harming others.

Although de Marie said she never experienced feelings of anxiety or depression, studies have disputed this; found that those who exhibited psychopathy and Machiavellianism (the desire to manipulate others) showed higher rates of depressive symptoms.

A February 2025 study in the Journal of Personality Research found that psychopaths may silently suffer from the effects of isolating themselves from others.

“Previous studies show that the dark triad is inextricably linked to depressive symptoms,” the researchers wrote.
