South Dakota driver dies days after SUV hits power line pole on Highway 12

A Groton, South Dakota man died Wednesday morning, Oct. 29, following a crash three miles west of Webster. According to preliminary crash information, the 73-year-old driver of a 2017 Toyota RAV 4 was traveling on U.S. Highway 12 when his vehicle entered the south ditch at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 29 and struck a power line pole, the South Dakota Department of Public Safety said in a statement. He was taken to Aberdeen hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. The statement stated that the driver died in hospital on Sunday, November 2. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information disclosed so far is preliminary information only. The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
The name of the person involved in the incident was not disclosed with the knowledge of family members.
