Spencer Pratt’s LA mayoral primary lead narrows after zero new votes

Former reality star Spencer Pratt’s lead over councilwoman Nithya Raman in the Los Angeles mayoral contest narrowed Thursday, while Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton moved behind Democrat Tom Steyer.

In the wake of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, California’s pivotal election took on national significance and served as a critical testing ground for the future of progressive leadership.

Pratt, a registered Republican, falls far behind incumbent Democratic Mayor Karen Bass for a chance to advance to the November general election. Bass already has enough votes to advance.

163,549 votes in Los Angeles last tablePratt has a nearly 6% lead over Raman, who received 130,473 votes, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar and County Clerk’s vote tally on Thursday.

A Fox News Digital review of the archived version of Los Angeles’ official vote count shows Raman received more than 10,000 votes in the final count, compared to Pratt’s fewer than 6,000 votes. At the previous count, Pratt had 157,116 votes and Raman had 119,809 votes.

In the governor’s race, billionaire Democrat Tom Steyer edged out Republican candidate Steve Hilton after final counts. The group boosted the billionaire’s tally, with him receiving nearly 24,000 votes, nearly double the 12,309 votes Hilton received.

Both candidates are trailing frontrunner Xavier Becerra, the former Health and Human Services (HHS) secretary under President Joe Biden. Becerra’s vote total rose from 390,154 to 418,130 in the county recorder’s count on Thursday.

As in the mayoral race, if no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote in the governor’s race, the top two candidates will advance to a runoff election in November.

Although the polls closed on June 2 in California, it may take weeks for the results to be finalized. The state did not receive official final results for the 2024 election until Secretary of State Shirley Weber certified the election results in December. 38 days later.

A. bipartisan bill legislation has since passed requiring “problem-free” votes to be counted within 13 days in 2025.

The state leads the nation in mail-in voting, with 81% of voters sending their preferences by mail in 2024, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly double the national average of 43% for 2024.
