Raheem Sterling arrested on suspicion of drug driving after ex-England star, 31, crashed Lamborghini into motorway barriers as police issue statement

Former England football player Raheem Sterling was arrested on suspicion of drug use.

Sterling, 31, who last played for his country in December 2022, allegedly crashed his Lamborghini into the M3 on Thursday and was pulled over by police at 9am.

The person who allegedly crashed into the highway barriers was released on bail pending investigation.

In a statement, Hampshire Police said: ‘Just before 9am on Thursday we received reports of a Lamborghini colliding with barriers on the M3 southbound near Minley Junction.

‘No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported.

‘The 31-year-old driver, from Berkshire, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, dangerous driving, possession of class C drugs and failing to provide a sample. ‘He has been released on bail while our investigations continue.’

Sterling also excelled at Liverpool in his youth before leaving Anfield for the Etihad in 2015. Sterling, who played 82 times for the England National Team, last played in the 2022 World Cup quarter-final, where they lost 2-1 to France.
