Trump’s ‘Doomsday Plane’ mobilised after peace plan rejected | World | News

The plane, also known as the “doomsday plane”, reportedly made several rounds over Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska on Monday, April 6.

The Boeing 747 has been heavily modified and designed to withstand nuclear explosions and electromagnetic pulses.

Flight tracking data shows the plane departed Offutt at 10:17 a.m. ET and circled at least six times overhead. Strahan reportedly flew over.

The military base is also home to a fleet of E-4B jets, suggesting the flight was a routine exercise to ensure the aircraft were ready for real-life emergencies.

Flying the E-4B is often part of standard training operations to keep pilots and mission crews at the highest level of skill.

The airspace south and southeast of Offutt is often used for exercises because civilian air traffic is lower than the busy skies over Omaha and nearby commercial airports.

Many of the loops the plane performed Monday involved repeated low approaches to Offutt’s runways followed by sudden takeoffs, a maneuver known as a touch-and-go. These drills help ensure pilots are ready to take off quickly if aircraft are needed during a crisis, the Mail reported.

The drill took place after Iran rejected a ceasefire proposal that could pave the way for an end to the war in the Middle East.

Monday’s flight coincided with rising tensions in the Middle East, fueling theories that the situation may be somehow linked.

Trump threatened to rain down “hell” on Tehran if it does not agree to a deal to reopen the vital route for global energy supplies by Tuesday.

Iranian state media reported on Monday that Tehran was seeking a permanent end to the conflict as it rejected a plan put forward overnight by Pakistan, which is mediating the talks.

Pakistan’s proposal includes an immediate ceasefire followed by an agreement to end the war permanently.

The United States and Israel have been clashing with Iran since February 28, when they launched a joint attack on many important regions of Iran. Iran responded by shutting down a critical oil trade route and plunging the region into chaos with attack sites through the Middle East.
