Stars, Planets and Galaxies Galore! 8 Must-See Celestial Events in October 2025

For the first and astronomy enthusiasts of this month, this planting is full of various celestial activities for both experts and novices. From star clusters and planets to meteor shower and galaxies, a list of some astronomical events to be done this month:

1. Andromeda Galaxy (M31) and Ceres – October 2 is approximately

Andromeda Galaxy, the closest galaxy of the Milky Way, can be seen on October 2 with the naked eye at midnight. It is best to use a telescope or binoculars to detect the galaxy, but it can still be seen under the very dark sky.

At the same time, the largest object in the asteroid belt, the dwarf planet Ceres will also reach the opposition, reach out to the earth in front of the sun and shine with the brightest money.

2. Month – 5-6 October night near Saturn and Neptune

October is the best time for Saturn viewing. Throughout the night sky, every day, a retrograde movement from east to west moves – something for a few months a year because of the Earth’s orbit.

The planet and the moon can be seen outside 3.33 degrees on the night of October 5-6 and rises to the highest points at midnight.

3. Harvest Supermoon – 6-7 October

The full moon of this month is known as the Harvest Moon, the closest full moon to the autumn equinox. However, the moon also passes through the sun to the opposite side of the world and reaches Perigee, the closest point to the earth in the elliptical orbit, and this is a super km of the harvest.

This is a rare moment in which it looks 14% larger and 30% brighter than the moon is at the farthest point of the planet, so don’t miss it!

4. Draconid Meteor Shower – 8 October

Between 6-10 October, the Earth will pass through Comet 21p/Giacobini-Zinner-comet Star Trail and create the Draconid Meteor shower. On October 8, the meteor event will be peak. Although it is difficult to see the most brilliant meteorites in the moonlight, peel your eyes for any firing star.

5th Moon near Pleiades Star Cluster – October 10

Pleiades is an open star cluster in the constellation Taurus, which is about 444 light years from Earth. On October 10, the moon and star cluster will be less than a degree, and unlike Draconid meteors, the brightest stars will shine even in the glow of the moon.

6. Trianguum Galaxy (M33) – October 15

Trianguum Galaxy is the third largest galaxy in the local group after Andromeda and the Milky Way. Similar to Andromeda, it can be seen on October 15 with the naked eye under the very dark sky. Use a telescope or binoculars to see it in full magnification.

7. The moon near Venus; Mercury near Mars – October 19

On October 19, Moon and Venus will appear less than four degrees in the sky before the dawn.

Due to the thick, slightly reflecting clouds, Venus appears as “morning star” or “evening star” depending on the position of the most brilliant object in the sky after the sun and moon.

Mercury can also be seen near Mars.

8. Orionid Meteor Shower – 20-21 October

The comet 1p/Halley, the peak on October 20-21, creating the Orionid Meteor shower during this month, leaving debris in the orbit of the sun. This year, it corresponds to the new moon and provides optimal star conditions. The shower is also known for its extremely bright and fast shooting stars, so it will be impossible to kidnap this year’s meteorites. Wait to see 15-20 meteor per hour.

9. Mercury in the Great Eastern extension – October 29

The sun’s rays usually hide the view of the planet of Mercury. However, on October 29, Mercury will reach the largest separation and the largest eastern elongation from the sun in our perspective. It will be one of the best days to see Mercury in the evening sky.
