The United States will work with Iran to ‘dig up’ enriched uranium buried during joint US-Israeli attacks last summer, President Donald Trump said on Wednesday.
“There will be no uranium enrichment,” Trump said on social media, adding that no material had been touched since the June attacks.
He has previously said the US would retrieve the deeply buried material if it reached a deal with Iran, in what is expected to be an intense undertaking.
“We are talking and will talk with Iran about easing tariffs and sanctions,” Trump said.
Although Trump said on Tuesday that the United States found Iran’s 10-point ceasefire proposal ‘feasible’, on Wednesday the president claimed that his 15-point plan accepted many points that Iran rejected.
Iran has not said and has not confirmed it will work with the United States to retrieve buried uranium.
