Streeting ‘can’t be planning coup because we went to cinema’ | News

Wes Streeting was unable to plan his leadership bid because he went to the cinema with a friend at the weekend, a minister has claimed.

As Sir Keir Starmer struggles for his political future following Labour’s dismal local election results, both the health secretary and former deputy prime minister Angela Rayner are seen as potential leadership candidates.

Speaking to Sky News on Monday (May 11) ahead of the Prime Minister’s key speech, Peter Kyle said he and Mr Streeting had gone out to dinner and watched the movie The Devil Wears Prada 2 at the weekend.

“Someone who plans to pull the plug and launch a leadership bid in a few days doesn’t go to the movies with a friend,” Mr. Kyle said.
