Stripping Prince Andrew of titles is ‘window dressing’, biographer claims

Buckingham Palace ‘could not grasp the magnitude’ of the incident Prince Andrew The York family biographer claimed that it was all about papering over the cracks for good public relations.

Andrew Lownie, who published a book critical of Prince Andrew earlier this year, and Ex-wife Sarah FergusonHe said the King should have been tougher and taken action much earlier.

Claimed that Buckingham Palace was Pressure on government to take actionAfter years of inactivity, finally enough is enough.

“I think it’s just window dressing,” Mr Lownie told the Telegraph. “I think it’s a confection, it’s all symbolic and it doesn’t change much.”

He said the King should have removed his brother’s titles altogether rather than allowing them to be suspended. He said she needed to find a way to remove herself from the Royal Lodge, her large home in Windsor, and urged the Prince to co-operate with the authorities so that all of his dealings with her should be brought under control. jeffrey epsteinThe deceased sex trafficker and pedophile has finally been exposed.

The royal historian also claimed that the King should have made the announcement himself, showing that he took the lead rather than allowing the Prince to suggest that he had made the decision for the good of the country.

“The fact is he continues to deny the allegations,” Mr Lownie said of Prince Andrew.

“The statement should have come from Charles. He should have said, ‘Look, I spoke to him, we resolved the problem, we were horrified by what happened and we distanced ourselves.'”

“Instead Andrew was allowed to say ‘I decided this and that’, even though of course he hadn’t decided anything.”

He said Prince Andrew’s claim that he had stepped aside was “ridiculous” as he was essentially forced out more than five years ago. Mr Lownie added: “It’s just empty-mouthed stuff, I think the palace must be in another world.”

His book Title: The Rise and Fall of the House of YorkIt chronicles Andrew’s descent from Falklands war hero to national disgrace, and details in excruciating detail his lucrative business connections with a cast of dubious characters.

The royal is portrayed as an arrogant, sex-obsessed womanizer who has long courted his office for his own personal gain.

Mr Lownie insists there is more to come.

“This is just the tip of the iceberg,” he said. “I think the palace is worried about new allegations coming out in the US, they know there’s more damaging things to come.”

It was revealed that compensation was paid to the York family in 2023. A series of payments totaling £1.4 million from Selman TürkThe former Goldman Sachs banker was accused of stealing nearly £40 million from Turkish millionaire Nebahat Evyap İşbilen. The Duke later reached a secret settlement with Ms Isbilen, while Turk, who was sentenced to 12 months in prison last year for contempt of court for failing to produce evidence, denies allegations of fraud.

Meanwhile, among the many opaque business dealings involving the Yorks were some that were “unexplained.” More than £500,000 loan paid to Sarah Ferguson by Gate Ventures, a troubled theater and film investment company whose investors were largely Chinese during his time as director between 2017 and 2019.

Mr Lownie added: “Neither Sarah nor Andrew have disclosed any dealings they had with Epstein. They have not disclosed what this money Selman Turk gave them, what Gate Ventures paid Sarah for… The real story has yet to come out.”

Prince Andrew’s announcement agreed not to use their titlesHe said: “I think people will think that he hasn’t actually paid any penalty for what he did.

“No one apologized to the victims, they just tried to distance themselves. This is just a way to put things together, to satisfy public opinion. And I was told that this was not due to Charles, but due to pressure from the government.”

“In the meantime, Andrew will continue to live as he always has. Nothing changes for him. He’ll still have his DoY nameplates, he’ll still be filming on the weekends, he’ll still be quietly making money, just like himself.”

‘An opportunity to burst the boil’

He added of the Palace: “This was a real opportunity to puncture the boil but all they did was prick a little corner of it. They could have said, ‘OK, look, you’re on your own now and we’ll let the National Crime Agency investigate you’.”

“There’s a lot more that could be done if they really wanted to tackle this problem. But they’re just trying to cover up the current headlines – a bit of a plaster cast on a big problem.”

“Everyone says it’s great and the monarchy is so open, accountable and responsive, but it’s just nonsense.”
