Suspended CISF Constable-Turned Drug Smuggler Arrested, Police Seize 1.58 Kg Ganja Worth ₹79 L

The drug smuggler, a suspended CISF police officer, was arrested in a joint operation of Jubilee Hills and SR Nagar police task force. Police recovered 1.58 kg Ganja and other properties worth Rs 79 lakh from him.
The accused, Panagudu Shiva Krishna, 39, from ASR district, is a resident of Kerala, under suspension since September 2025. DCP task force Vaibhav Raghunath Gaikwad said the person was arrested while carrying contraband near Nature Cure hospital in SR Nagar.
Krishna joined CISF in 2009 and later served as deputy in the national disaster response force. Gaikwad explained that when his vehicle was stopped at police checkpoints, he showed his CISF ID to avoid inspection by law enforcement officials.
Gaikwad said Krishna procured large quantities of medicines from growers in Odisha and supplied them to interstate hawkers in the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
The accused was earlier arrested by Dammapet police in 2025, lodged in Khammam jail and later suspended from duty. He continued to be involved in drug trafficking even after his release from prison, the DCP added.
Saifabad police reunite missing child with family in one-hour rapid operation
Saifabad police rescued a missing eight-year-old girl from Lakdikapul Metro Railway Station within an hour and reunited her safely with her family.
According to A. Seethaiah, SHO of Saifabad police station, constable K. Vinay Kumar was on official duty on Tuesday and noticed a young girl wandering alone in a distressed state at Lakdikapul Metro Railway Station at 8 pm.
Realizing that the child was missing, the police officer took the child to the police station. Seethaiah said that after kindly counseling and investigation by police personnel, the boy identified himself as a resident of Mangar Basti, Habeebnagar. The police contacted his father and delivered the child safely to his family.

A housekeeper who brutally attacked a senior citizen and his wife, imprisoned them and fled with their property was arrested by Towlichowki police on Wednesday.
The accused Punna Kumarswamy met Dr. at their home in Adityanagar. Anand Swaroop was assigned to take care of Saxena (79) and his wife Asha Saxena (77). Around 4 pm on May 31, Kumarswamy allegedly tried to kill Asha while the couple was sleeping. He wrapped a sheet around her face and when she resisted and raised an alarm, he pushed Anand to the ground and attacked Asha’s chest and spine with punches. The attacker then stole two mobile phones, four gold bangles and a mangalsutra before escaping, said ACP Towlichowki Syed Fiaz.
Police said Kumarswamy was appointed through Shyam Home Care Services. Investigation revealed that he was earlier arrested for harassing his wife Radhamma in Srikakulam in 2017 and was sentenced to five years in prison.
Acting on specific information, the police raided the Pottery Market in Secunderabad and arrested him while he was trying to dispose of the stolen goods. He was also earlier arrested by Shadnagar, Kothur and Filmnagar police in theft and robbery cases. The ACP added that Kumarswamy was produced in court for judicial remand.
BTechsStudent drowned in quarry
The 23-year-old third-year BTech student drowned in a quarry near Medchal after wading into deeper water while swimming with friends after a cricket match on Tuesday evening.
According to Medchal police, the deceased has been identified as Upender, a resident of Pdur in the same jurisdiction, and the quarry was located some distance from his home. Upender, along with a group of friends, had gathered near the quarry to play cricket on Tuesday evening. Following the completion of the game, the group reportedly decided to swim in the quarry.
Police said Upender knew how to swim but drowned after entering a deeper part of the water. His friends became alarmed when they noticed he had not appeared. Upon being informed, police and rescue teams arrived at the scene and started a search operation. The body was recovered in the evening and shifted for post-mortem.
Police said a brief autopsy report confirmed the cause of death was asphyxiation. After the procedure, the body was handed over to the family.
A case has been registered at Medchal police station and further investigation is on. Police warned the public against entering abandoned quarries and deep water bodies, especially during monsoon conditions, due to the risk of sudden depth changes.
Fake message is circulating: Sajjanar
A message circulating on social media that WhatsApp calls are being recorded is completely false, city police commissioner VC Sajjanar said on Wednesday.
“This was a fake propaganda by some mischief-makers to terrorize people. There is no truth in the news that WhatsApp calls are being recorded,” Sajjanar said.
“Warnings have been made about this issue before. But some share it deliberately. Responsible citizens do not believe and share such fake news. Strict legal action will be taken against those who spread fake news,” he also shared on the X.
Thai woman alleges Hyderabadi scam
Videos circulating on social media show a Thai national woman claiming that she was cheated by a city-based man worth Rs 10 lakh on the pretext of a business investment in Hyderabad.
In the video, the 55-year-old woman said: “I am a single mother. A man named Mahesh Kukatpally contacted me through social media, pretending to be a top-notch businessman. He took 10 lakh rupees from me in the last few months and now he is refusing to return the money, instead he is abusing me. He created an embarrassing situation by removing his clothes during video chats. I have evidence of money transactions and abusive videos. I request Hyderabad police to take necessary action against Mahesh, give me justice and ensure that he is the same.” It will prevent him from repeating this with other victims.”
He also stated that he shared strong evidence of his bank transactions on his social media account. “As I am a single mother, I cannot come to Hyderabad. Mahesh cheated me by collecting all my savings. I cannot afford to buy a ticket. Authorities should look into this matter,” she insisted.
However, Mahesh is quoted as saying: “I do not know the Thai woman personally. She contacted me through social media for help.”
Based on the videos, social media users stated that such scams not only cause financial harm to innocent people but also damage India’s trust and reputation internationally. Another user stated that cyber crimes raise serious concerns about accountability in society and demanded that the victim receive due justice and strict action be taken against the accused in accordance with the law.
No official complaints have been received so far. The cybercrime social media unit collected the posts for verification, sources said on Wednesday.
Boy in his seventies arrested for molesting minors
Kushaiguda police filed a case against a 75-year-old man for harassing a 14-year-old girl.
According to the police, the accused was identified as M. Lingam, who ran an ironing shop in the area. The incident came to light after the victim’s family filed a formal complaint. The complainant stated that their daughter went out to buy food from a nearby shop. While returning, Lingam lured her into the ironing shop, pulled down the front shutter and harassed her.
Neighbors, who saw the old man closing the shutters after the girl entered, immediately informed her parents about the situation. When questioned, the traumatized victim described her ordeal and revealed that the defendant had also behaved inappropriately towards her the previous week.
Based on the complaint, Kushaiguda police registered a case under relevant sections of the law, including the Pocso Act. A comprehensive investigation is ongoing.

Sahid, a 30-year-old daily wage worker, was brutally murdered near a popular tea cafe under Borabanda police station limits on Wednesday.
Upon receiving news about the incident, the police came to the scene and started an investigation. While the area was cordoned off, fingerprint experts and CLUES teams examined the scene and collected evidence.
According to the police, unidentified assailants stabbed Sahid to death. The motive behind the murder is yet to be determined and investigators are investigating all possible angles as they strive to identify and capture the perpetrators.
The body of the injured person was taken to Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy.
