Sussan Ley says Coalition has always been totally committed to Net Zero renewables

Opposition Leader Sussan Ley has allayed growing concerns that her party is abandoning the Paris Climate Agreement.

Ms Ley confidently told the media as she announced the Coalition’s new climate policy:

“We are, of course, fully committed to 100 percent Net Zero.”

The Liberal Party Leader added:

“Why else would we plan to stop all renewable projects? The clue lies in the name Net None – for none action on climate. “I honestly don’t understand what all the fuss is about.”

To demonstrate the strength of recent consensus, Ms Ley was joined at the press conference by National Leader David Littleproud, who explained:

“We Coal-ition. Our commitment is and has always been in the pursuit of coal. Plus some fossil fuels…maybe some nuclear, but basically coal.”

When asked about the new climate policy, Mr Littleproud said:

“Throughout history, we have publicly denied the existence of climate change; this is not new. What is new is that our Liberal Party partners have a new leader who is trying to reinvent coal mining by discussing other options.”

Mr Littleproud added:

“I am delighted to say that our new policy goes directly back to our old policy: it is about new digging and drilling, as it always has been and always will be.”

As the leaders left the press conference, Mr Littleproud was heard muttering:

“To take HEBarnaby!”
