Swansea fire: Huge blaze near city centre as smoke seen for miles above Bay | UK | News

A massive fire broke out in Swansea, with smoke visible for miles above the city centre.

Labor MP Torsten Bell posted from the scene: “I am concerned that there appears to be a fire in the center of Swansea in the town’s church precinct; you are advised to stay away until it is clear what has happened. I am contacting emergency services and the council and will be monitoring the situation closely. Stay safe.”

Local people reported that there were traffic disruptions due to “chaos” on the roads in the city center due to the fire.

According to Google Maps, there is very slow traffic and serious congestion on High Street, Bridge Street and New Cut Street.

Mid and West Fire and Rescue service said crews were on standby in Dyfatty Street. They advise locals to keep doors and windows closed.

It is currently unclear what caused the fire. The Express has reached out to the local fire department for comment.
