Swearing-in Ceremony of New Assam Govt on May 12
Guwahati: Chief Secretary Ravi Kota said that the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected BJP-led NDA government in Assam will be held on May 12. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several union ministers, chief ministers and deputy CMs of BJP-ruled states and representatives from industries are expected to attend this event.
He said that the swearing-in ceremony is planned to be held at Khanapara Veterinary Ground.
“He chaired a comprehensive review meeting with DGP, Assam today to assess the preparedness for Hon’ble Prime Minister’s visit to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Council of Ministers,” Kota wrote in X on Wednesday night.
He said that arrangements regarding security, traffic management, venue preparation, protocol and inter-departmental coordination were discussed in detail.
“We emphasized the need for flawless implementation, strict adherence to established protocols and close coordination among all stakeholders,” Kota said.
He said that all relevant departments have been instructed to prepare at the highest level to ensure that the ceremony is conducted smoothly, safely and in line with the importance of the event.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma submitted his resignation to Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, who asked him to continue as head of the interim government.
Union minister JP Nadda and Naib Singh Saini have been appointed observers and joint observers respectively for the BJP Legislative Assembly party leader election, which is likely to be held on May 10.
The ruling NDA returned to power for the third consecutive term and won 102 of the 126 assembly seats in the state, while the BJP won 82 constituencies and its allies Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) won 10 seats each.
