“Syndicate raj grabbed tribal land”: Modi targets TMC in Purulia

Targeting the ruling Trinamool Congress’s acceptance of “monetary cut” (commission) and criticizing it for lack of employment and lack of industry in the state, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form the government with a “huge majority”.
In Purulia, a major tribal-dominated district in the state, the Chief Minister said agricultural infrastructure in West Bengal was under the control of the TMC union. He accused the ruling party of handing over control of agricultural mandis and cold storages to “union” members.

Prime Minister Modi issued a stern warning to those involved in corruption and promised to “root out syndication” when the BJP forms the government.
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has alleged that the development in “Maha Jungle Raj” was not done “without bribery”.
Addressing the public at Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Purulia, he added that the Mamata government had looted the teacher recruitment process and received thousands of youths. PM Modi said at a rally: “In 15 years of rule, unemployment in West Bengal has reached a dangerous level. This is a major crisis due to TMC’s Maha Jungle Raj. TMC ministers have robbed teachers of recruitment, cheated thousands of youths. In the absolute jungle of TMC, nothing is done without bribery. How will the industry develop when bribes are forced? So, the industry is in a difficult situation here too.” he said.
“Usually I don’t make predictions about elections; I don’t say what the results will be. But this time, no matter who I meet, they say that the BJP government is certain this time. After hearing all this, I say that the BJP will form the government with a huge majority this time,” added PM Modi.
Prime Minister Modi said that roads, electricity, water, schools and hospitals are in a difficult situation in Bengal under the TMC government.
“Under TMC’s rule of ‘maha forest raj’, tribal areas are being left behind. Roads, electricity, water, schools, hospitals… everything is in a mess. Tribals have no control over their own land. TMC’s union has taken control of tribals’ land,” he said.
“..Paddy farmers are facing serious challenges. Many irrigation projects here have stalled. Look at the situation of Subarnarekha project, decades have passed but water has not reached the canals,” he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted the various development crises in the state and added that Mamata Banerjee had betrayed the farmers and alleged that the union had control over markets and cold storages.

He added: “TMC has betrayed Bengal farmers at every step. We are witnessing the plight of potato farmers. TMC union has control over markets and cold storages. BJP will eliminate control of this union and selectively evacuate them.”
He claimed farmers would get “double benefits” from the twin-engine government.
“Bengal BJP has announced that support price of paddy will be fixed at 3,100 rupees. Also, if a BJP government comes to power in Bengal, 9,000 rupees will be provided instead of 6,000 rupees under Prime Minister Kisan. I assure you that once the BJP government is formed, every central government scheme in the interest of farmers will be implemented at an even faster pace.”
Expressing his concern about the development of the industry, the Prime Minister said, “TMC ministers plundered the teacher recruitment process by deceiving thousands of young people. In the big forest of TMC, work cannot be done without interruption. So, where will the industry come from when there is an interruption? That is why the industry here is also in trouble. Factories do not leave out of fear. Factories come with confidence, factories work with confidence. Investment comes with confidence.”
Claiming that the BJP will form a government with a large majority in Bengal, Prime Minister Modi said, “The people of Bengal have also made this decision: Fear, trust. Usually, I never make predictions during elections. I never talk about the outcome. I have been participating in elections for years, but I avoid these discussions… This time, I say that the BJP will form the government with a large majority. When I say a large majority, I say this with full confidence…”
Further, the Prime Minister said: “The entire country wanted a law to reserve 33% seats for women in Parliament and state assemblies and there was a debate in Parliament on this issue as well. But TMC opposed it as it did not want more women MPs to raise their voices on women’s rights.”
“Based on my political experience, I am confident that a BJP Chief Minister will be sworn in after May 4. Since both the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister belong to the BJP, the development of Purulia will progress at twice the current pace…” the Chief Minister said.
Women constitute a large vote share in Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s TMC. Both the BJP and the TMC are trying to appeal to women voters ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
TMC has announced its own welfare initiative Lakshmi Bhandar scheme where general category women get Rs 1,500 per month and SC/ST women get Rs 1,700. Unemployed youth are also promised a monthly assistance of Rs 1,500.
The West Bengal Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29, and the counting of votes will take place on May 4.
While Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee is aiming for a fourth consecutive term, the BJP, which won 77 seats in the previous election, is making a new move to form the government in the state.
