Taco Bell turns Mountain Dew Baja Blast soda into electric-blue pie

Taco Bell has turned one of its most iconic sodas into a dessert and it’s making waves online.
The new Mountain Dew Baja Blast Pie is a limited-edition dessert that transforms the soda’s signature tropical lemon flavor into a creamy, lemon-lime-style treat. The cake, which features a vibrant electric blue filling set in a graham cracker crust and is topped with whipped cream, costs $19.99 and is only sold whole rather than by the slice, and is only available while supplies last.
The cake was first unveiled at Taco Bell’s 2024 Live Más event, sparking memes and petitions from fans who want the cake to be real, according to a press release.

Now Taco Bell is billing the cake as a “Friendship flex” to treat family and friends this holiday season. “This is a revelation in a sea of stuffing,” the company said.
“You can now drink AND eat Baja Blast,” Mountain Dew wrote in an Instagram comment on Taco Bell’s post announcing the cake. According to reports, Mountain Dew Baja Blast was designed specifically for Taco Bell and launched in 2004 in partnership with Mountain Dew’s parent company, PepsiCo.

The release, which Taco Bell says is one of the most special releases ever, has some fans stunned, while others are ready to dive right in.

“If I brought this thing to a Thanksgiving event they would have evicted me from here,” one person joked on Taco Bell’s post.
“Taco Bell, all we wanted was the lingering caramel apple empanada – we got the Chernobyl cheesecake instead,” another person said, adding that the color looked “radioactive.”
The dessert caught the attention of some fans.

“This scares me but give me 10,” one Instagram user said.
Following the launch on November 6, some people managed to get their hands on the feature. “It was good!” one person shared a post on X. “It’s like the middle ground between Baja Blast flavor and key lime pie.”

Another admitted: “The Baja Blast cake is really good unfortunately.”
In a video shared on X, a Taco Bell employee tried it himself. “It’s not scary,” he decided.

Another wrote on Instagram: “Sorry I only bought one cake. I need this to last longer.” he said. Others begged for it to remain beyond the limited release.
