18 Bonnet Macaques Poisoned To Death In Karnataka; Probe Underway

Bengaluru: It was claimed that unidentified people poisoned up to 20 hood macacs and filled them in the Gundlupet Taluk of the Chamarajanagar Region on Wednesday before throwing them on a roadside that connects Kantegala-Codasoge. 18 out of 20 poisonous macaks died as they survived. Survived monkeys were treated by veterinarians.
A wildlife activist in Gundlupet suspects that some peasants may have poisoned their hood macales because of their frequent crop raids and their discomfort in the region. It is believed that the casting took place on Wednesday at 06:30 before the discovery of the Range forest officer before being discovered by the locals.
Forests and Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre said that Sniffer dogs from Melukammanahalli were deployed to watch individuals responsible for poisoning monkeys.
In addition, CCTV images from the Village of Kandegala were reviewed to monitor the movement of individuals who may have thrown the macaques. However, the Minister said that the CCTV verification did not give the desired results.
He made sure that a strict action would be taken against the criminals, and expressed his confidence in the identification and capture of those involved in the mass murder of monkeys. Forest officials recorded a lawsuit and the investigation continues.
The veterinarians made necrops on carcasses to determine the type of poison used. It is suspected that the macaes are drawn by poisoned foods.
