Elon Musk backs Restore Britain in crucial Burnham by-election | Politics | News

But Nigel Farage’s Reform UK has arrived on the heels of a potential challenger for the Labor leadership; Their candidate, Robert Kenyon, received 40% of the vote in a survey conducted by Survation for the Sunday Times. But in a surprising finding, Rupert Lowe’s right-wing party Restore Britain came third with 7%, ahead of the Greens, Liberal Democrats and Conservatives.

Reform UK jumped right into the poll, telling voters they would ‘get Burham’ if they ‘vote Restore’. Restore Britain could be seen as a natural contender for Reform UK votes and now billionaire Elon Musk, 54, has thrown his considerable weight behind the party on social media.

Today (Sunday) on social media platform Mr. Lowe wrote that his party was “under relentless attack by the establishment.”

He added that Restore Britain would not only “reform the institution” but also “destroy it” and vowed to “dismantle the system”.

Mr Burnham hopes to win the seat so he can return to Westminster as an MP and embark on what many believe will be a leadership battle with Sir Keir Starmer for the keys to Number 10.

The Mayor of Greater Manchester said his support would be “a vote to change the Labor Party” as he launched his campaign to win the seat of Makerfield. Pressing the current Prime Minister, Mr Burnham said Labor “has to be better than us” and promised to give voters back “the party they used to know”.

Mr Musk was previously a supporter of Reform UK but has since withdrawn that support and said last year that Mr Farage “doesn’t have what it takes” to lead the party.

Last month, Mr Musk accused Mr Farage of “lying” after the Reform UK leader claimed the tech billionaire had turned down his money. The richest man in the world flatly denied this.

Mr Lowe had an acrimonious split from Reform UK last year following allegations he made physical threats against Reform chairman Zia Yusuf. Mr Lowe has categorically denied the allegations and has not faced any charges. He founded his own party, Restore Britain.
