Two Bangladeshi nationals detained at Guwahati airport

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel detained two Bangladeshi nationals at the new terminal of Guwahati’s Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

CISF personnel allegedly seized fake Aadhaar cards and other suspicious documents from the duo during the security check before they left for Mumbai. Akasa Air flight.

The two men, identified as Rana Molla and Mafuja Akhtar, are residents of Bangladesh, officials said. The duo were later handed over to the Azara police station, which covers the airport area.

“We are trying to find out their activities in India and whether they are linked to a larger network dealing with illegal cross-border movement,” a police officer said.

This was the second similar incident at the airport in less than two weeks. On June 17, police arrested a 24-year-old woman who had arrived on an evening flight from Bengaluru.

The woman admitted that she was a Bangladeshi citizen and entered India via Tripura. He bought a fake Aadhaar in the name of Puja Das before passing through Bangladesh.
