Patriots’ Mike Vrabel rips NFL officiating

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel expressed his displeasure Monday with his team’s penalty call during their 25-19 win over the New Orleans Saints.

The Patriots were penalized 11 times for 65 yards. Still, the Patriots racked up 333 yards of total offense on 58 plays over nine drives.

“I have a tough job coaching this football team,” Vrabel said. WEEI radio. “Nothing much. It gets funny at some point. They send out these videos every week and they do a great job. (Club communications officer) Walt Anderson does a great job, (NFL head of officiating) Ramon George does a great job.

“And they send out these videos. And of course me and Stretch (John Streicher, the Patriots’ executive vice president of football operations and strategy), we’re hanging on every word. Then I’ll see something in the game and I’ll be like, ‘Did they watch the video?’ I think. Like me and Stretch, we pause and rewind the video, saying, ‘Oh, I love these videos.’ And then I was like, ‘Hey, did you watch last week’s video? For example, they talked about this exact thing.’ Me and Stretch are watching them.”
