Parents hit by Child Maintenance Service errors

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), which runs the CMS, did not address the experiences of John Hammond and other individual cases or explain why money was mistakenly taken from bank accounts in some cases. He said he was trying to arrange debt payments voluntarily and that “enforcement measures will only be taken if parents continue to fail to pay.”
