Japan city proposes two hour limit on smartphone use

A city in Japan proposed a two -hour border for smartphone use.

Located in Aichi Province, Toyoake is thinking of a regulation that will encourage people to spend only a few hours of screen time on their devices, outside or school.

According to Toyoake Mayor Masafumi Koki, the proposal is evaluated to prevent excessive use of devices that cause physical and mental health problems, including sleep problems.

The regulation will be evaluated next week and if the offer passes, the bid will enter into force in October 2025.
