Pacific leaders gather to celebrate 50th anniversary of Papua New Guinea’s independence | Papua New Guinea

Pacific leaders came together in Port Moresby to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Papua New Guinea’s independence from Australia, as Prime Minister James Marape is currently reflecting and expressing optimism for the future despite the difficulties of the country.

“On September 16, 1975, one minute after midnight, our first governor Sir John Guise declared the world to the world, Papua New Guinea is now independent,” he said.

To mark 50 years of the country’s independence, Australia will help Papua New Guinea to create a new ministerial wing to its parliament.
On Monday, Albania announced the support after attending a state dinner in Port Moresby with other representatives of other countries, including Prince Edward.
“Our support for the expansion of the Parliamentary Assembly is an investment made in Papua New Guinea’s democracy and sovereignty that will benefit future generations,” he said.
