Claiming that stand-up comedians have crossed all limits on the pretext of freedom of expression and lessons need to be learned, Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande said that she will move a motion against such actions in the upcoming monsoon session of the State Legislative Assembly on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
His remarks came amid controversy made by comedian Pranit More, web developer Himanshu Jangra and others over comments during a comedy show that allegedly glorified oppression and non-consensual behavior towards a woman, leading to registration of a case.

“Such stand-up comedians should be taught a lesson. They cross all boundaries and make fun of everyone. They say whatever they want. I will move a motion against such actions during the next monsoon,” Ms. Kayande said.
Referring to stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra’s controversial parody song, Sena MLC said, “They make money by making fun of everyone. They say whatever they want under the garb of freedom of expression. This will not be tolerated in Maharashtra.” A day earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said stand-up comedians should be careful that their freedom of expression does not infringe on another person’s right to dignity.
