The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UPSSSC) will start the application process for 7,994 Lekhpal posts from today. The commission has also published an updated category-wise list of vacancies after it faced backlash for not booking seats as per guidelines.

Other Backward Class groups and politicians had objected to the earlier announcement, accusing it of allotting fewer seats to the community than stipulated in the 27 per cent reservation guideline.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the matter and directed the UPSSSC to properly comply with the reservation rules, following which the commission published a revised category-wise list of vacancies.
