AI will shrink Amazon’s workforce in the coming years, CEO Jassy says

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said on Tuesday.

“We will need less people who do some of the works done today and more people who do other types of business.” He said to the employees in a note. “It is difficult to know exactly where this emerged over time, but in the next few years, we hope that our productivity gains will reduce our total institutional workforce as we obtain comprehensive use throughout the company.”

Jassy wrote about how employees should use AI tools and learn to try and understand how to use “how to do more with Scrappier teams”.

In his last letter to the shareholders, Jassy called the manufacturer Ai as “re -invention of everything we know once for a lifetime”. He added that technology is “saving money for companies” and continues to change the norms in coding, search, financial services, shopping and other fields.

“It moves faster than almost everything that technology sees.” He said.
