Fort Worth police officers lift overturned car to rescue pinned infant

Police officers in Fort Worth, Texas, are being hailed as heroes after body camera video showed them and several Good Samaritans lifting an overturned car to save a baby trapped underneath after a crash on Interstate 30 last week.
Police responded around 9:30 a.m. Thursday following reports that a woman and her 1-year-old child had been thrown from a vehicle.
When officers arrived, they found an overturned car as Good Samaritans searched the wreckage for survivors.
Body camera footage obtained FOX 4 in Dallas It shows officers and Good Samaritans searching for a girl before realizing she was trapped under the car.

A police officer was heard shouting, “Hey! Here!” “We need to move the car. I think the baby is here.”
FOX 4 reports witnesses helped Sgt. R. Nichols and Officer E. Bounds lift the vehicle to rescue the child.

Dramatic footage shows the baby remaining unresponsive as officers perform CPR to resuscitate him.
About three minutes later, the baby woke up and was crying until paramedics arrived to take him to a nearby hospital. Police said the child and his mother are in stable condition and are expected to make a full recovery.

“We are proud of the life-saving actions taken by Sergeant Nichols and Officer Bounds for their bravery and quick response to this horrific scene,” the Fort Worth Police Department said on social media. “We are also grateful to the citizens of Fort Worth who saw someone in danger and helped our officers without hesitation.”

“Our prayers are for this little angel as a full recovery is expected. But these officers showed incredible heroism,” added Fort Worth Police Chief Eddie Garcia. “They have made the Fort Worth Police Department and the entire city of Fort Worth proud. I’m not sure there’s a better example of ‘protect and serve’.”
