Kenneth John Giles: Armed gunman accused of shooting woman near Mullewa on the run

A 58-year-old gunman accused of shooting a woman in the Midwestern town of Mullewa remains at large.
Police allege Kenneth John Giles shot a woman he knew following a fight at a property on Urawa Road, about 15 miles north of Mullewa, at around 5.20pm on Wednesday.
It was learned that the woman’s life-threatening condition was not in danger and she was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Mr Giles is believed to have fled the scene armed with a firearm and was traveling in a white Nissan Patrol Utility with WA registration 1BIY336.
He is described as being approximately 173cm tall, of medium build, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Police deployed significant resources to the area, including the Tactical Response Group.
People in Mullewa have been urged to be aware of their surroundings and look for Mr Giles or his car.
Anyone with information is asked to call police immediately at Triple-0.
Dimitri Christoforou, owner of the Mullewa Railway Hotel, said he was still serving guests at the bar on Wednesday evening but was considering locking the front doors as information spread through the town because he was “concerned”.

“Some people are just reporting what they hear on the news,” he said.
“All I know is there’s someone walking around with a gun.
“We have customers coming in for dinner or drinks. I’m thinking of locking the doors just for security reasons.”
Mullewa is located approximately 450 km north of Perth and 98 km northeast of Geraldton and is famous for its abundance of wildflowers.
