Kerala Congress (M) Facing Rout

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Congress (M) is heading towards near extinction in the assembly elections, with the party leading in just one of the 12 seats it is contesting.

Party Chairman Jose K Mani Pala also follows. Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine also stayed behind in Idukki.

Sebastian Kulathunkal is the only candidate in Poonjar constituency. KCM, a Christian-dominated party with significant influence in the central Travancore region, had dealt a major blow to the UDF by switching to the LDF.

However, KCM’s political rival in the UDF, the Kerala Congress (Joseph), is leading in seven constituencies.
