De De Pyaar De 2 is now on Netflix

De De Pyaar De 2, a romantic comedy starring Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh and R Madhavan, was released in theaters on November 14. It is a direct sequel to 2019’s De De Pyaar De, which starred Ajay, Rakul and Tabu. The latest release also stars the father-son duo of Jaaved Jaaferi and Meezaan Jafri along with Gautami Kapoor and Ishita Dutta in key roles.

The first episode revolved around the unconventional love between 50-year-old Ashish ‘Ashu’ Mehra (Ajay) and 26-year-old Aisha ‘Aishu’ Khurana (Rakul) and the chaos that ensues when Ashish introduces her to his family. In the second episode, the story continues with Aisha introducing Ashish to her family, which includes her father R Madhavan.

De De Pyaar De 2 began streaming on Netflix from January 9, eight weeks after its theatrical release. The OTT streaming giant shared the announcement poster on its social media accounts and added the following caption: “Time to meet the family, kyunki ab hai ladkiwalon ki baari. Watch De De Pyaar De 2 on Netflix on January 9.”

While the first part was a commercial success as it grossed Rs 145 Million worldwide against a reported budget of Rs 75 Billion, the sequel underperformed at the box office as it reportedly made around Rs 135 Million and collected Rs 112 Million at the global box office. While Anshul Sharma directed De De Pyaar De 2, Akiv Ali directed De De Pyaar De.

The sequel has also hinted at the climactic threesome where the Mehra and Khurana families will meet for Ashish and Aisha’s wedding. The comedy series is produced by T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar and Luv Films’ Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg. No statement has been made yet about De De Pyaar De 3.
