What do we know?

According to the arrest affidavit, at 2:21 a.m. on Oct. 31, an Austin police officer responded to a crash at Raising Cane’s at 1819 San Antonio Street. The report said he hit several pedestrians in the parking lot. When officers arrived, they spoke with 21-year-old Antonia Garcia Rios.

Garcia-Rios said he and his friends were picked up by another friend after partying on 6th Avenue. The group then went to Raising Cane’s in the drive-thru lane. While in the lane, the driver got out of the truck to use the restroom inside. Garcia Rios then jumped into the driver’s seat of the Ford F-150. However, when they entered the building, the driver still had the key in his hand. So the truck wouldn’t move without the key.

When the driver returned to the truck, they got into the backseat, leaving Garcia Rios in the driver’s seat.

Since the key was inside the truck, the truck’s engine started again. Garcia Rios then began to advance. In the video, the truck can be seen moving forward and heading towards the curb. There were many pedestrians standing on the sidewalk at that time.

While 4 people were injured in the incident, 3 people were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Garcia Rios was arrested and charged with intoxication assault.
