On Tuesday, the Israeli Ministry of Health issued a creepy report that revealed the brutal conditions of 12 hostages that have survived from Hamas captivity in Gaza. The report reveals a pattern of serious physical and psychological abuse, hunger and medical negligence faced by men and women who have been hostage since October 2023.

The hostages are limited in the cramped underground tunnels – sometimes only two square meters – with a total insulation of over -crowded or more than one year. The deliberate hunger was routine. Prisoners were only invaded with worms – and limited, contaminated water. Some of them remained without food all days. In the report, this excessive deprivation led to dramatic weight loss, muscle waste, scorbite, weakened bones and many other serious health problems, including vitamin deficiencies.

“Excessive hunger endangers all physical systems and threatens their lives. Hunger damages the nervous system, brain, heart, lungs and immune system. Any infection can be fatal.” “Every day, he takes a more risk of survival under captivity.”

Physical injuries were common. Many hostages returned to Israel with firearm wounds and shrapnel injuries during the first kidnapping. Medical care was largely absent or inadequate, forcing some prisoners to treat their own wounds, sometimes lost consciousness. Infectious diseases, respiratory disorders and skin conditions were not treated, which caused hallucinations and chronic pain.

The prisoner was constantly threatening. The report told us how the guards abandoned nearby grenades to spread terrorism. The report also mentioned deep mental trauma among the survivors. Many suffers from post -traumatic stress disorder, including nightmares, feedback, anxiety and crime of deep survivors. The report states that psychological symptoms may worsen over time and underline the need for long -term care.

In the light of these findings, the ministry urgently called to the hostages in Gaza immediately to provide medical assistance, food and water and to facilitate their release for appropriate treatment.
