World Open: Ronnie O’Sullivan beats Wu Yize in decider to reach final

Ronnie O’Sullivan reached his first ranking final in more than two years by winning a tense deciding frame against China’s Wu Yize at the World Open in Yushan.
This came the day after he hit the sport’s highest ever professional score of 153 in his 5-0 quarter-final victory over Welshman Ryan Day.
The seven-time world champion never trailed against Wu but fought his way out of the world No. 11 before eventually wrapping up a 6-5 win.
Wu, who had the first chance in the decider, built a good lead of 43 points, but the 50-year-old O’Sullivan punished a poor safety shot with a long red and then held his nerve with an 89-run lead.
The Briton is making his 66th final appearance in a ranking event, but his first since beating Judd Trump to win the World Grand Prix in January 2024.
