Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce explores investment in UP MSME, tourism sectors

The delegation expressed keen interest in investing in MSME, religious tourism and hospitality sectors in Uttar Pradesh, according to a press release issued by the state’s information department. Assuring them of all possible support from the state government, CM Yogi also invited the members to visit Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath Dham and Prayagraj in Kashi.
Prime Minister Yogi emphasized the need to support new initiatives in the fields of trade, technology and tourism in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. He said that 8-9 years ago, markets were flooded with Chinese products during festivals. The government encouraged traditional initiatives with the One Region – One Product initiative in 2018, and these products were provided with design support, technology and platforms and were exhibited at the UP International Trade Fair held in the last week of September.
Chief Minister Yogi said that Chinese products have almost disappeared from UP markets. The government supports all 9.6 million MSME units in the state and benefits the livelihood of around 25 million families by ensuring their social security. Through One Region – One Product, these products have been branded and are now offered as official gifts on major platforms.
He also informed the delegation that India is currently the world’s fourth largest economy and the fastest growing major economy. The statement stated that Uttar Pradesh is among the top three states in terms of economic contribution and hosts the largest population in the country.
He told the delegation that the state was making rapid progress and offered tremendous opportunities with improved security, law and order and a strong investment environment. At the Global Investors Summit held last year, investment proposals worth Rs 40 lakh crore were received, of which projects worth Rs 15 lakh crore have already witnessed groundbreaking ceremonies.
The remaining bids worth Rs 5 lakh crore are being prepared for the next round of execution. He added that chamber members can play an important role in bringing investment, technology and foreign direct investment to UP. Separate policies have been framed for foreign direct investment and Fortune 500 companies. CM Yogi also said that Uttar Pradesh represents India’s rich heritage. Maha Kumbh, the world’s largest cultural and spiritual gathering, was held in the state last year and witnessed the participation of over 660 million devotees. He also drew attention to the abundance of water resources and fertile lands of the state.
