Sydney Terror Attack: Pakistan Links Emerge As Israel Points To Iran, Global Questions Rise | World News

The terrorist attack on Jewish targets in Sydney triggered a global debate about the real forces behind the violence; Pakistan’s emerging links to the attackers have raised questions about accountability and geopolitical interests. The incident also renewed scrutiny over whether Pakistan, often described as the hub of terrorist networks, is protected while blame is shifted elsewhere.
In today’s episode of DNA, Zee News Editor-in-Chief Rahul Sinha gave a detailed analysis of why Israel is focusing its attention on Iran despite signs of Pakistan’s intervention. The program examined whether this reflected concrete intelligence inputs or a broader geopolitical calculation influenced by growing ties between US President Donald Trump and Pakistan Army commander Asim Munir.

According to Israeli media reports, including Channel 12’s report, Israeli intelligence agency Mossad had warned Australian officials about a possible attack on Jewish targets about a month before the attack. The warning reportedly points to Iran-backed terrorist networks operating in Australia. The report also claimed that a significant part of the Iran-linked terrorist infrastructure in the country had been dismantled and that investigators were investigating whether the Bondi Beach attack was linked to the same network.
Many Israeli newspapers echoed these suspicions, citing intelligence sources who claimed that Iran had stepped up efforts to target Jewish and Israeli interests around the world in recent months. This comes against the backdrop of Australia’s recent decision to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization and expel the Iranian ambassador. Following the attack, some pro-Iranian social media accounts praised the incident, further increasing suspicions.
At the same time, intelligence sources indicated that the attackers had links to Pakistan, but subsequently Pakistan was not directly named or officially accused. This has raised questions about whether Islamabad is diplomatically protected while the spotlight remains on Tehran.
Iran quickly condemned the Sydney attack. Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it stands against terrorism all over the world. Despite this, Israeli suspicion continues to focus on Iran, leading to speculation about whether Israel has special intelligence or whether Iran is being positioned as a convenient scapegoat.
The attack has also reignited debate in Australia about the line between political expression and radicalization. Images circulating online show a man carrying a Palestinian flag was seen riding a horse on Bondi Beach days before the shooting; This action reportedly met with no objection from the police at the time. Earlier, a large pro-Palestinian rally in Australia attracted around 50,000 people and chanted slogans against Israel. Reports claim that the attackers participated in similar demonstrations.
Following the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Australian officials of allowing anti-Semitic sentiment to rise. The incident raised concerns about the safety of Jewish communities in Australia and whether extremist elements were using political protests as cover.
The developments have raised broader questions beyond Australia. Analysts warn that authorities must remain vigilant to ensure that freedom of expression is not abused by violent extremists, as Palestinian flags appear at demonstrations in many countries, including India.
