Monsoon Advances Over Andhra Pradesh; Heavy Rains, Heat Wave Alerts Issued

Amaravati: Southwest Monsoon moved towards parts of Andhra Pradesh on June 6, bringing various rainfall activities and weather warnings across the state.

According to the latest forecast, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is expected in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema in the next few days. Between 6 and 10 June, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds (40-50 km/h, up to 60 km/h) are expected in many regions.

Rayalaseema is expected to receive intermittent rainfall until June 11, with chances of heavy showers in some areas. Coastal Andhra Pradesh will also witness scattered rainfall activities until June 12.

However, despite the advance of the monsoon, heatwave conditions are expected to continue between June 6 and 8 in isolated areas in Andhra Pradesh and Yanam Coasts. Residents of the region are advised to take precautions against both extreme heat and sudden storms.

Heavy to very heavy rains are expected across South India next week in states such as Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, indicating an active monsoon phase in the region.

Authorities urged people to be careful, especially in areas prone to flooding, lightning and strong winds.
