Plans to expand Wimbledon can go ahead, judge rules

@Allies & Morrison/AELTCWimbledon’s plans to go almost three times in the size of the tennis site will continue after a campaign group’s legal challenge against the planning permission of the planning permission was rejected by a Supreme Court judge.
The proposal approved by the Great London Authority (GLA) includes thirty -eight new tennis courts and 8,000 seats.
Save Wimbledon Park (SWP) argued that the development of the former Wimbledon Park Golf Club in Western London was illegal while protecting the proposed land.
All England Club President Deborah Jevans said that the SWP could object to the decision, while the decision was “satisfied”.
For SWP, lawyers said that the decision to approve plans to the Supreme Court at the beginning of this month was “irrational”, and that the Wimbledon Park – Wimbledon Park, which was partially designed by Lancelot “Brown, should be broken with restrictions on how to partially use it.
GLA and All England Club defended the challenge, the court said that the decision was “planning judgment properly” and the restrictions were not “material”.
PA MediaJustice Saini said: “In short, the defendant’s decision on the relevance of the delivery of the delivery of both legal confidence and restrictive contracts is a planning judgment that is applied rationally and is taken into consideration to appropriate and relevant factors.”
In addition to the courts and the relevant infrastructure, the bids will see a parking area with seven maintenance buildings, access points and public access with permission.
It will also allow the club to host Wimbledon qualifiers on the site.
Following the decision on Monday, SWP said, “” he believes that he should try to object to the decision and that GLA made a significant legal mistake in relation to the special legal status of the park. “
In addition to the courts and the relevant infrastructure, the bids will see a parking area with seven maintenance buildings, access points and public access with permission.
They would also include work on Lake Wimbledon, including building a wooden around and around.
