Gov. Tim Walz Minnesota ICE conflict sparks Insurrection Act calls

Minnesota reeks of corruption and incompetence. Gov. Tim Walz has presided over a fraud disaster that prosecutors say could top $9 billion, allowed tampons to be used in boys’ bathrooms, and botched nearly every aspect of his administration. Now he’s getting ahead of himself by claiming Minnesota is “at war” with the federal government and portraying federal law enforcement as an occupying force. Radical leftists once again rioted on the streets of Minneapolis, attacking ICE officers and openly disregarding the law. That’s enough. President Trump should invoke the Sedition Act of 1807 and restore order.

Sanctuary states and cities undermine federal law enforcement. Leftist leaders refuse to assist the federal government in enforcing immigration law, including an outrageous refusal to honor federal detainees for illegal immigrants arrested for other crimes. Officials do not notify ICE when state prisons release illegal immigrants. Agents must pursue fugitives through the streets rather than make safe arrests in prisons, exposing themselves and the public to unnecessary danger. Asylum policies protect murderers, pedophiles, drug dealers and armed robbers from deportation.

The latest outrage is over the fatal shooting of Renee Good, a radical anti-ICE agitator who calls herself a “legal watchdog.” This label provides no immunity. It’s boxed in with well-sealed roads and ICE vehicles that are illegal obstructions. When an ICE Agent ordered Good to exit his SUV, Good drove away and hit another agent, who suffered internal injuries and fired at Good to protect Good’s life and the lives of others. It is clear that an SUV weighing thousands of pounds is a lethal weapon. A mother behind the wheel can do the same damage as any big man with a firearm.

Leftists maliciously call the ICE agent a murderer. They are lying. If the jury finds that Renee’s death was caused by Becca’s gross misconduct, only Good’s partner, Becca, could face criminal liability for felony murder. Becca greets her with “Ride baby, ride!” A jury could find that he conspired to obstruct ICE and incited the attack that forced his partner into a fatal restraint. Becca must face the full weight of the law.

Renee Good’s death unleashed predictable left-wing chaos. Always provocative, Walz has considered using the Minnesota National Guard against the federal government and has repeatedly described the state as “at war” with the U.S. government. Anti-ICE radicals looted federal vehicles, stole sensitive documents, and exposed ICE agents’ personal information online. They terrorize law enforcement with impunity and Walz’s complicity.

Minnesota expressly opposes the Supremacy Clause, which makes federal law superior. Immigration enforcement remains the exclusive federal responsibility, but blue states have filed absurd and frivolous Tenth Amendment lawsuits seeking to deport ICE. No court precedent supports their claim. If their theory had been valid, segregationist states during the Jim Crow era could have prohibited the enforcement of federal civil rights. While Minnesota wallows in chaos, red states are fully cooperating with ICE.

Minnesota’s lawlessness remained unchecked. Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and other leftist officials refuse to take action and even encourage leftist lawbreaking. Police watch as rioters loot an ICE vehicle and attack federal officers without intervening.

Since Walz and Frey are causing open season by enforcing federal immigration laws, causing federal immigration officials to do their job, Trump can and should federalize the Minnesota National Guard and commission active-duty military members under the Insurrection Act. In fact, this is a textbook rebellion. History sets a precedent. In 1992, President George H.W. Bush invoked the Insurrection Act to quell riots in Los Angeles following Rodney King’s decision. Minnesota faces at least an equally serious threat as radical thugs target federal officers who enforce federal laws. If Walz and Frey have their way, their political allies, the Somali warlord, pirate and con artist, will replicate Black Hawk Down in Minneapolis instead of Mogadishu.

Trump had previously deployed the National Guard to maintain order in Chicago, Los Angeles and Portland, Ore. Despite the precipitous drop in crime and the lives saved as a result, the Supreme Court blinkered, misinterpreted the law, and limited the president’s authority under ordinary law. Judge Kavanaugh stated that the Supreme Court did not address the Insurrection Act. ICE agents now face imminent danger. Trump cannot reduce sanctions. To do so would mean surrendering to domestic terrorists. He must use the Sedition Act decisively. Lawsuits will follow, but the rule of law requires immediate action.

The call alone cannot stop this threat. Federal prosecutors must hold these Minnesota rioters accountable. Walz, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and Hennepin County Soros prosecutor Mary Moriarty refuse to enforce the law. Federal grand juries should indict them on charges of insurrection, seditious conspiracy, harboring illegal aliens, assault on federal officers, obstruction of justice, conspiracy and many other serious federal crimes. Walz will face investigation over the Somali nursery fraud scandal, which allegedly amounted to at least $9 billion in taxpayer funds allegedly funneled to Somali warlords and other terrorists, while government whistleblowers face threats. This pattern of lawlessness has continued for decades.

Minnesota’s leaders habitually defy the law, undermine federal authority, and endanger citizens. Trump has the authority to act both constitutionally and legally as commander in chief and chief executive. He should invoke the Insurrection Act, federalize the Minnesota National Guard, deploy active duty military forces, and prosecute these Minnesota rioters. These actions fulfill the government’s primary duty to maintain order, uphold the law, and protect American lives.
