PMK founder S. Ramadoss announced an alliance with VK Sasikala’s All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AIPTMMK) on Friday, March 20, 2026, and announced that the two parties will jointly contest the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, fielding candidates in all 234 constituencies. He did not announce under which flag his candidates would run as the judiciary refused to stop his estranged son Anbumani from using the PMK’s name and flag.

The announcement came after Ms. Sasikala called Mr. Ramadoss at his residence in Thailapuram near Tindivanam in Villupuram district. The meeting lasted about two hours and the decision to jointly contest the polls was announced in the presence of Ms. Sasikala.

“We have signed an agreement to contest the elections in alliance with AIPTMMK. This victorious alliance created a significant impact in Tamil Nadu and instilled fear in many people. More parties will join us,” Mr. Ramadoss told reporters.

“We will contest in all 234 constituencies and decisions will be taken in consultation with Ms. Sasikala. Those who join us can express their preferences. We have formed this alliance for the welfare of the people.”
