Sherrone Moore’s affair was ‘too obvious’ in days leading up to arrest

Fired Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore was reportedly paranoid throughout the 2025 season and worried that his relationship with an employee would be known on campus.
Moore was “stressed” about 2025 season Detroit Free PressRumors that he was having an extramarital affair with an employee were reported.
“The guys on that side of the building knew about it 100%,” one former Michigan native told the press. “They can deny it all they want, but there’s so much going on. If you don’t know, you’re stupid. It was obvious.”

The media also reported a heated argument between Moore and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale earlier this year. During this discussion, Moore stated that he did not want “people talking behind his back.” [his] back.”
Moore reportedly overheard his assistants talking about possible hires.
Martindale allegedly told Moore, “Look, we’re trying to help you…find the right people.” Moore allegedly asked Martindale profanity-laced questions, asking if he knew what he was doing.

Martindale allegedly responded, “Yeah, I’m just the old man.”
“You have no idea how hard it is to be a head football coach and the pressure,” Moore allegedly said, through tears, and began slamming papers.
A former Michigan employee who spoke to the Free Press said it was considered a “really weird dynamic” when Moore allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
“It’s one of those things that everyone knows but no one wants to say,” the staff member added.

“He was sitting right in front of his office. His desk was right in front of his office, 20 feet in front of him.”
Moore was fired after Michigan discovered he was having an inappropriate relationship and was soon jailed for allegedly breaking into a staff member’s home and threatening to commit suicide.
Prosecutors accused Moore of communicating with the employee through phone calls and texts after the separation, which led to the woman contacting the University of Michigan and cooperating with the investigation. Moore was later fired from his position as head football coach, which prosecutors said prompted him to show up at her home.
Moore then allegedly entered the home, grabbed a butter knife and a pair of kitchen shears, and threatened his own life. Moore allegedly told staff, “You’ve got my blood on your hands” and “You ruined my life,” according to prosecutors.

If convicted, Moore would face more than half a decade behind bars, further damaging his hopes of stepping aside. The next hearing date is scheduled for January 22.
Moore pleaded not guilty at his first hearing earlier this month.
Moore’s attorney, Ellen K. Michaels, told Fox News Digital she had no comment on the article.
