Teals in advanced talks to form new political party; Flotilla activists return home, demand audience with PM; Antisemitism royal commission to recommence today
Teal independent Sophie Scamps has not ruled out joining a new centrist party after colleagues Monique Ryan and Kate Chaney said they would remain independent.
“People have been coming to me for a while now with ideas about the potential for a stronger alliance that complements the community independent movement,” he said in this post.
“These conversations [have] “This process has been accelerated by new election campaign laws that will make it harder for independent candidates, especially new candidates, to run, and a seismic political shift that has seen the Liberals lurch further to the far right,” Scamps said.
“As always, I will consult closely with my community before making any major decisions. I have always kept my community in open and honest dialogue on issues that affect them, and this is no different.
“My two key priorities are to represent my community honestly and authentically and to contribute to the best outcomes for Australia.”
