Teen stabbed and nine held after London ‘TikTok gathering’ | UK | News

A teenager was stabbed and nine more people were detained following a chaotic meeting on Clapham Common in south London.

Metropolitan Police officers were deployed to the park area on Friday 22 May after large crowds gathered and violent clashes broke out at an ‘unauthorised gathering’.

Video footage from the Clapham Common gathering showed groups of individuals punching and wrestling on the ground as police tried to disperse the large crowd. The unofficial event was advertised on TikTok, attracting a significant number of young people to the area.

Police said a teenager was transported to hospital with stab wounds, where emergency crews confirmed it was “neither life-threatening nor life-altering.”

After a fight broke out in the crowd, the group was dispersed by the officers, and then we detained nine people. All those detained are being held by the police Mirror.

“We would appeal to anyone who attended the event or has any information to contact police by calling 101 and quoting 8948/22 May.

“A police presence will remain in the area and we will examine CCTV and other evidence over the coming days.”

Four boys, one aged 16, two aged 17 and one aged 19, were arrested on suspicion of fighting.

A 16-year-old and a 14-year-old were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and assault. A 20-year-old man and two other 15-year-olds were arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a knife. An 18-year-old young man was detained on suspicion of attacking a police officer.

The incident comes just weeks after a group of teenagers descended on Common and Clapham High Street; This caused terror among shoppers and forced some retail outlets to close their doors early.

As hundreds of young people rampaged through the affluent suburb following the Easter school holidays in April, shoppers, families and passers-by found themselves barricaded inside stores by shop owners and police to protect them.
