Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy instructed Director General of Police CV Anand to ensure that public movement is not disrupted during the convoy movement of himself or other dignitaries across the state.
The instruction came after the Prime Minister took serious notice of traffic congestion near the airport while traveling to Delhi on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. He instructed officials to ensure that people are not kept waiting on the roads for long periods of time due to convoy arrangements.
While the Prime Minister instructed the DGP to initiate action against the officials responsible for the time-lapse, he emphasized that vehicles coming from the opposite direction should not be stopped unnecessarily.
DGP organizes video conference
Following the instructions, the DGP held a video conference with police officers of sub-inspector rank and above from the law and order and traffic units in the commissionerates in the state.

During the review, Mr. Anand said the repeated concern expressed by the Chief Minister underlined the seriousness of the problem and asked field officers to regulate traffic fluidly during convoy crossings rather than completely stopping vehicle movement.
He said that to strengthen traffic management across the state, a special Traffic Bureau will be set up soon under the chairmanship of Additional DGP and the modalities will be finalized now.
The DGP also directed the officials to prepare alternative traffic routes in advance and exercise more caution around the airport, especially during peak hours.
In view of the upcoming monsoon season, officers have been instructed to take proactive steps to prevent water stagnation and resulting traffic congestion.
The DGP also made it clear that illegal parking will not be allowed on the Outer Ring Road and directed law enforcement personnel to work in coordination with traffic police and other wings for effective traffic regulation. Senior police officials, including Commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri attended the video conference.
