Telstra outage shuts down Victoria’s regional train network; mass delays across region
The widespread outage is affecting mobile calls and data connections, and has even prevented some businesses from processing payments.
The 70,000 passengers who use V-Line trains every day in Victoria have been told to postpone travel if possible.
Dozens of train services stopped on tracks and remained stationary at regional and suburban Melbourne stations.
In an update at 7.18am, V-Line said: “A radio network failure affecting the network, services are currently unable to operate. There is no estimated time for recovery at this stage. Bus replacement services will be very limited. Passengers are advised to delay travel where possible.”
A Department for Transport spokesperson confirmed to 3AW: “Telstra outage [is] It impacts V-Line services statewide.”
