Ten workers killed battling wildfires in Turkey

At least 10 forestry and rescue workers were killed while fighting forest fires in Eskisehir province of Türkiye.
Türkiye’s Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumakli’nin X’te X’te in a statement, about 24 forest workers and volunteer rescue personnel “stuck in the fire” remained.
He said that five forestry workers and five volunteers lost their lives and 14 forest workers were taken to hospital.
He said in the local media, the fire in the Seyitgazi region of the state began on Tuesday morning and began to spread to nearby areas.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wished his condolences in X. “I pray for the mercy of God for our men and sisters who fight at the expense of their lives to protect our forests, and offer condolences to their families and nation.”
Meanwhile, the deputy of the election region Nebi Hatipoglu, the community “martyrs while fighting flames heroic forest workers” on the loss of “deep grief” said.
Temperatures throughout the country have recently exceeded 40 degrees of Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) and currently fires in five areas – Sakarya, Armikik, Eskisehir, Izmir, Karabuk and Manisa.
This summer, hundreds of fires erupted throughout Türkiye and forced tens of thousands of people to evacuate their homes.
