Teppotsavam at Patalaganga postponed – The Hindu

The ‘Teppotsavam’ of Goddess Bhramaramba and Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy, scheduled to be held in Patalaganga on Tuesday, November 18, was postponed due to the increase in water levels in the Krishna River.

Srisailam, the management of Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple, had planned to conduct Teppotsavam for the first time on the waters of Krishna river in Patalaganga on the auspicious day of `Masasivaratri’ on Tuesday as part of the ongoing Karthika Masotsavams.

Srisailam dam officials informed the temple management that water levels in the project stood at 883.20 feet (205.6 tmc ft) on Sunday night and power generation was continuing. This could lead to sudden changes in water levels, dam officials said.

Srisailam temple Executive Officer M Srinivasa Rao said the Teppotsavam conduct was postponed due to safety and security concerns and asked the devotees to take it into consideration.

Teppotsavam is held at the temple pond (koneru) during Mahasivaratri or Dasara festivals, temple officials said. The administration had planned to perform the ritual at Krishna river this time to attract more devotees.
